Lent is a time in the traditional church calendar to prepare our hearts to more fully engage in the amazing story of salvation. Lent 2019 will be observed from March 6 or Ash Wednesday until Easter. Often, Christians commit to fasting or giving up some luxury during this time. At Cornerstone our sermons will reflect on the glory of Jesus as He is revealed as the Lamb of God. In the Old Testament we discover many vivid promises that Messiah would come to deliver mankind. One powerful portrayal is a lamb, slain for our sins.
Jesus is “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29) As our Redeemer He experienced amazing anguish yet He emerged as our risen, victorious Savior! Now He is exalted and glorified! During this season let’s consider carefully what this means for our everyday living. “Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” (I Corinthians 5:7) This means that we can live in victorious transformation, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Let’s worship the glorified Lamb!
