On September 22 Cornerstone participated in Freedom Sunday. We were presented with a penetrating question: “What if slavery didn’t exist and God’s church was the reason?” Along with many other churches across our nation and the globe we were faced with the heartbreaking reality of cybersex trafficking and the work of International Justice Mission to counteract this devastating practice.
Special thanks goes to our Outreach Team leader, Michele Anderson, and others from our congregation who led us in understanding more about the issues of trafficking – and for leading us in prayer that God’s power would defeat this devastating form of exploitation. Michele reports that in the special love offering for the work of IJM $6,700.00 was donated from the Cornerstone family.
Eugene Au, BC Director of Development and Mobilization for IJM Canada writes, “I just wanted to say a quick ‘thank you’ to you and Cornerstone Neighbourhood Church for your participation in Freedom Sunday. I know that there was great response and generosity from your community! Thanks for introducing IJM and for encouraging your congregation’s engagement with our work. We’re so grateful for your partnership.” If you would like to learn more about the work of International Justice Mission go to www.ijm.ca.
