Almost two decades ago a gentleman in our community began caring for the homeless in our community by serving sandwiches. All these years later, though he has passed, his wife has kept this ministry going, serving meals each Saturday. You are invited to help in this service of compassion to the needy in Maple Ridge. Each Saturday evening, a full meal is served at Golden Ears United Church (22165 Dewdney Trunk Road). For some years, some members of the Cornerstone family have contributed by cooking and serving food on the first Saturday of the month. You can become part of the email contact list by contacting Beth Lortie at ealortie@telus.net. If you would like to contribute food, please prepare something that will serve the needs of the homeless (not too spicy or too difficult to chew). Main dishes, buns, salads, desserts, and fruit are welcome. If you would like to help with set up, serving, and clean up, you will need to arrive by 5:30 pm. The cleanup will typically conclude by 8 pm.
